Local Community

The Illawarra community is rich in its diversity and we are proud to be able to support many community initiatives, charities, clubs and events in the area. Our “buy local” sourcing strategy supports over 150 local businesses and our staff are from the greater Illawarra region.

Sporting clubs, charities, fundraising events and local clubs all play an important role in bringing the community together and H.Parsons will consider all community support requests, however we are more likely to support those that provide a direct benefit to the local Illawarra community.

Annual Mother's Day Memorial Service

As a family owned and operated organisation H.Parsons recognises the significance of this day.   We proudly host an annual Mother’s Day Memorial Service and open up our beautiful Wollongong facilities to the families of the Illawarra.

Supporting the community is important to us.  We know that  Mother’s Day in particular is very special as this can be a very difficult time for families who have lost their mum in recent times. Our Mother’s Day Memorial Services are about acknowledging that loss  and on behalf of H.Parsons we offer our condolences to all of those families.

In 2021, our guest speaker was Carolyn Vaughn from Compassionate Communities.   Carolyn is a practicing End of Life Doula and authorised Celebrant in the Illawarra region

Dying to Know Day

We think it’s important to know what your choices are with end of life care, however talking about death is not an easy conversation for everyone. That’s why H.Parsons joined the Groundswell Project’s  Dying to Know Day campaign and created a welcoming space for the community to have these conversations.

We invited key community members who have a wealth of knowledge in this area to come along and share what they know with the community. Due to social restrictions this year, we moved this to zoom and our conversations included: What happens to my pets -  Maria Natera, RSPCA Program Coordinator, RSPCA. At top of mind for many people is the role of pets in end-of-life care. Knowing that your pet will be looked after can alleviate so much stress.
